He hopped on the train into the city, and arrived with a satchel full of shawls, capelets, and headgear he'd brought along just for the occasion. We wandered the city, stopping for him to change looks. By the time we got to this shot, he'd pulled the swirl glasses down and had the headphones on with the sequined sunburst peeking out. It was perfect. We wrapped up a few hours later, and I took him to dinner at a Thai restaurant he liked before he checked into a hotel for the night."
—Veryl Oakland

Photo Code: L2206S-011
Artist: Sun Ra
Location: New York, New York
Date: 1979
Medium: Film Photography

Print Details

5x7 print on 6x8 paper Inkjet Giclée Print from high-resolution digital scan of Veryl Oakland’s original color transparency, printed by Digital Silver Imaging (Belmont, MA) using archival pigment inks on Canson® Infinity Platine Fibre Rag — 100% cotton, 310gsm fine art paper.
